RIP Helen Levitt

Acclaimed street photographer and documentary filmmaker Helen Levitt passed away yesterday at her home. She was 95 years old. Levitt, who was active in photography for nearly 70 years, was referred to by Artforum as “the most celebrated and least-known photographer of her time.”

The New York Times has an info-packed obituary; Lens Culture and Laurence Miller Gallery have selected images online. You can also listen to a 2002 interview with Levitt at NPR (thanks Michael).
